LICENSES AND APPLICATIONS

As part of the bear hunting process, hunters are responsible for purchasing their own bear hunting license. Once notified of successfully drawing a tag, you can conveniently purchase your license online.

Alternatively, if you arrive early enough on the first day, you have the option to buy your license upon arrival. The first scheduled hunt will commence on the afternoon of Day 2, providing ample time for

preparations and ensuring a seamless start to your bear hunting experience.

Unless no-quota zones, most of our hunters choose to lodge and hunt in Minnesota zone 27.  Here’s the DNR map of the zones. Bear tags are awarded based on the number of points accumulated. Minnesota’s bear hunting regulations here.

The season begins on September 1 each year. The application period begins in early April and ends the first Friday in May. The cost to apply is $5.

Nonresident bear hunting licenses are $231 and resident licenses are $45. Your bear tag allows you to hunt with your choice weapon.
